Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, make your way to the Blue Ridge Parkway. From Interstate 64, take exit 99 for US-250 and head south on VA-151. After about 10 miles, turn left onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. Follow the Parkway north for approximately 5.8 miles until you reach Milepost 5.8, where you will find the Humpback Rocks trailhead. There is a parking area for visitors, but be aware that it can get crowded, especially on weekends. Parking is free.

• Public Transportation + Hiking

  If you're relying on public transportation, you can take a bus to Waynesboro, VA. From there, you will need to arrange a taxi or a rideshare service to the Humpback Rocks trailhead. It's approximately a 15-minute drive from Waynesboro to Milepost 5.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Since public transportation options may be limited, check the local schedules and plan accordingly. Once you arrive at the trailhead, you’ll need to hike approximately 1 mile to reach the summit of Humpback Rocks, which is a steep and strenuous climb. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking footwear and bring water.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling to Humpback Rocks is an option. If you’re starting from a nearby town like Lyndhurst, you can bike along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The trailhead is located at Milepost 5.8. Be prepared for the elevation changes, as the area is hilly. Always wear a helmet and follow safety regulations. There are no fees for biking on the Parkway, but ensure your bike is in good condition for the trip.
