Car
From anywhere on the Eastern Shore, head towards US-13 South. Continue on US-13 until you reach the intersection with VA-175. Take VA-175 East towards Chincoteague. Follow VA-175 until it merges into Chincoteague Road, and then turn right onto Main Street. Follow Main Street until you reach the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge entrance. There is an entrance fee of $10 per vehicle, valid for 7 days. Once inside the refuge, continue straight to the Assateague Island National Seashore. The lighthouse is located within the park, and you will see signage directing you to the parking area.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a Greyhound or local bus service to the nearest major town, which is Chincoteague. Once in Chincoteague, you can use a taxi service or rideshare app to get to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge entrance. Remember to check bus schedules ahead of time as they may vary. Upon entering the refuge, there is a $10 entrance fee per vehicle, and you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to return after your visit.

For those adventurous enough to bike, if you are staying in Chincoteague, you can ride to the entrance of the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The ride is roughly 6 miles along scenic roads. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules. After entering the refuge, park your bike at the designated bike racks and walk to the lighthouse. There is a fee of $10 per vehicle, but this does not apply to bikers. Just be mindful of the time as the refuge has specific hours of operation.
