Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Colonial National Historical Park, head towards the Yorktown area. From the visitor center, take the Colonial Parkway heading towards Yorktown. Continue on the Parkway until you reach the intersection with Route 17. Turn left onto Route 17 South and then follow the signs for Yorktown. Once you reach Yorktown, turn onto Main Street, and then take a right onto Nelson Street. Nelson House will be located at 200-208 Nelson St, Yorktown, VA 23690. There is limited street parking available near the house.

• Public Transportation

  If using public transportation, the nearest bus service is operated by the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA). You would need to take a bus to the Yorktown stop. From the bus stop, head south on Main Street until you reach Nelson Street. Turn right onto Nelson Street, and you will find the Nelson House at 200-208 Nelson St, Yorktown, VA 23690. • Walking

  If you are already in Yorktown and wish to walk to the Nelson House, start from the Yorktown waterfront. Head north on Water Street, then take a right onto Main Street. Continue on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Nelson Street. Turn right onto Nelson Street, and you will see the Nelson House at 200-208 Nelson St, Yorktown, VA 23690. The walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace.
