Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Downtown Lynchburg area, head east on Main Street towards 9th Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Washington Street. Turn right onto Washington Street and continue walking for about half a mile. You will pass several shops and restaurants along the way. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to the James River Overlook. After approximately 10-15 minutes of walking, you will arrive at 9 Washington St, where the Overlook is located.

• Public Transportation

  Begin your journey at the nearest bus stop in Downtown Lynchburg. Take the Hill City Express bus route that heads towards the Rivermont area. You will want to get off at the stop closest to Washington Street. From there, walk south on Washington Street. The James River Overlook is located at 9 Washington St, which is a short walk from the bus stop. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance for the latest timings.

• Biking

  If you have access to a bike, you can enjoy a scenic ride to James River Overlook. Start from the Lynchburg Riverwalk Trail which is located near the downtown area. Follow the trail west along the river, then take the exit towards Washington Street. Continue biking along Washington Street, and you will find the James River Overlook at 9 Washington St. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on your speed.
