    Getting There

    Public Bus

    Start at the downtown Roanoke bus terminal, which is located at 4th Street SW and Campbell Avenue. Take the Valley Metro Route 5 bus towards the Mill Mountain area. This bus runs approximately every 30 minutes. Get off at the Mill Mountain stop (look for the sign indicating Mill Mountain Park). From there, walk up the paved road that leads to the entrance of Mill Mountain Park. Continue walking until you reach the Mill Mountain Star, which is a short hike from the parking area. The star is illuminated in the evening, making it a beautiful sight.

    Bike Rental

    Rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in downtown Roanoke. Once you have your bike, head east on Campbell Avenue until you reach 10th Street SE. Turn left on 10th Street SE and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Mill Mountain Parkway. Follow Mill Mountain Parkway uphill; the ride is approximately 2 miles and will take you directly to the entrance of Mill Mountain Park. Once you arrive, park your bike and take the short walk to the Mill Mountain Star.

    If you prefer to walk, start from downtown Roanoke. Head south on Jefferson Street SW until you reach the intersection with 10th Street SE. Turn right on 10th Street SE and continue until you reach Mill Mountain Parkway. From there, it’s a steep but scenic walk uphill for about 1.5 miles to reach the entrance of Mill Mountain Park. Once at the park entrance, follow the signs to the Mill Mountain Star. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven in places.
