Public Transportation
From downtown Roanoke, head to the nearest bus stop at the Roanoke Transit station located at 101 4th St SW. Take Bus Route 3 towards Tanglewood Mall. Ride the bus for approximately 15 minutes and get off at the stop at 8th St SW and Campbell Ave SW. Transfer to Bus Route 7 towards Roanoke City. Ride for about 10 minutes until you reach the stop at Jefferson St SW and 16th St SW. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile along Jefferson St SW, which will become Roanoke Mountain Rd. Follow the signs to Roanoke Mountain. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the walk.

Biking
If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from a local rental shop in downtown Roanoke. Start at the Roanoke River Greenway, heading south towards the entrance of the greenway. Follow the greenway which runs along the river and eventually leads you toward Roanoke Mountain. The biking path offers scenic views and will take you approximately 30-40 minutes to reach the base of the mountain. Once you arrive at the foot of Roanoke Mountain, there are bike racks available for you to secure your bike while you explore.

For those who enjoy walking, if you are starting from the Roanoke City Market area, head southwest on Campbell Ave SW. Continue straight until you reach 8th St SW. Turn right and head towards the intersection with Jefferson St SW. After reaching Jefferson St SW, turn left and continue walking for about 1.5 miles. This will take you directly to Roanoke Mountain. The walk will take you about 30-40 minutes, and you can enjoy the sights of the city along the way.
