To reach Plum Point Park from downtown Suffolk, head to the nearest bus stop on Main Street, usually near the Suffolk Visitor Center. Board the Greyhound 960 or 961 bus towards Norfolk. Stay on the bus for approximately 30-40 minutes until you reach the Norfolk stop at Granby Street and 23rd Street. From there, transfer to the local bus line #15 towards Fort Norfolk. After about 10 minutes, disembark at the stop closest to Plum Point Park. Walk a few minutes east to reach the park entrance.
Bicycle
If you enjoy cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Suffolk. Start by heading south on Main Street and follow the bike lanes towards the Nansemond River. Cross the bridge toward Norfolk. Stay on the designated bike paths and follow the signs towards Fort Norfolk. Plum Point Park will be on your right as you approach the waterfront area. The ride should take about 40-50 minutes, depending on your pace.
Walking
For those who prefer to walk, start from downtown Suffolk and head toward the Nansemond River. Walk along East Washington Street until you reach the riverfront. From there, follow the path along the river until you reach the bridge leading into Norfolk. Once you cross the bridge, continue straight on East Main Street until you reach the intersection with Fort Norfolk Road. Turn left, and Plum Point Park should be just a short walk ahead on your right. This walk will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
