Public Bus
Start at the Bellingham Station located at 401 Harris Ave, Bellingham, WA 98225. Board the Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) bus route 231 (or 232) heading towards Mount Baker. You will need to pay for a ticket; the cost is usually around $2.50. The bus will take you northbound along Mount Baker Highway. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the 'Glacier' stop. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles along the road towards the Lost Lake trailhead. Keep an eye out for the trail entrance on your right, which will be marked. Follow the trail to reach Lost Lake Waterfalls.
Bike Rental
Rent a bike from one of the local shops in downtown Bellingham, such as 'Bellingham Bicycle' or 'Wheel & Sprocket'. Start your journey at the rental shop and head east on State St. towards the South Bay Trail. Follow the South Bay Trail until it connects to the Mount Baker Highway. Continue on Mount Baker Highway until you reach the Lost Lake trailhead. The total distance is approximately 10 miles from downtown Bellingham to the trailhead, which should take about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your biking speed. Once you arrive at the trailhead, you can park your bike and begin your hike to Lost Lake Waterfalls.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, begin at the Bellingham City Center. Head east on Holly St. and continue until you reach the trailhead for the Lost Lake hike, which is approximately a 10-mile trek and could take around 3-4 hours. It's recommended to take breaks along the way and to bring plenty of water and snacks. This route will take you along scenic paths, so be sure to enjoy the views as you make your way to the waterfalls.
