Getting There

  • Bus

    To get to Mt. Baker from downtown Bellingham, start by walking to the Bellingham Station located at 401 Harris Avenue. From there, take the WTA (Whatcom Transportation Authority) bus number 510 towards Mt. Baker. The bus will take you on a scenic route through the beautiful Washington countryside. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as there are limited services. Once you arrive at the Mt. Baker Ski Area stop, disembark and follow the signs towards the visitor center to begin your exploration.

  • Bike

    For the more adventurous, consider biking to Mt. Baker. Start in downtown Bellingham and head east on Holly Street until you reach the intersection with Baker Street. Turn left on Baker Street and follow it until you reach the East Sunset Drive. Continue on East Sunset Drive until it transitions into the Mount Baker Highway (SR 542). This route is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of biking time, and be prepared for some uphill sections as you approach the mountain. Remember to wear a helmet and stay safe on the road.

    If you're up for a challenge, you can start a hiking adventure towards Mt. Baker. Begin your journey at the trailhead near the Glacier Public Service Center located at 42°57'14.6"N 121°48'52.5"W.
