If you're driving, the easiest way to reach Coal Creek Falls is to take I-90 East from Seattle. Continue on I-90 for about 10 miles, then take exit 10 toward 148th Ave SE. Merge onto 148th Ave SE and continue for approximately 3 miles until you reach SE Newport Way. Turn right onto SE Newport Way and follow it for about 1.5 miles. Look for the entrance to Coal Creek Falls Trail on the left. There is parking available near the trailhead.
Public Transportation
To reach Coal Creek Falls using public transportation, you can take Sound Transit bus 556 from Seattle. Board the bus at any stop along the route and ride until you reach the stop at 148th Ave SE & SE Newport Way. From there, you will need to walk approximately 0.5 miles south along 148th Ave SE until you reach the entrance to Coal Creek Falls Trail. Be sure to check the Sound Transit website for the most current bus schedule and fares, which typically cost around $2.50-$3.00.
Walking
Once you arrive at the Coal Creek Falls Trail entrance, you will need to park your car if you drove or start your walk from the bus stop. The trail begins at the parking area and is well-marked. The hike to Coal Creek Falls is approximately 1 mile and is a moderately easy trail that features beautiful scenery along the way. It's recommended to wear sturdy shoes and bring water, especially during warmer months.
