Car
If you are traveling by car, start on I-5 North from Seattle or I-90 East from Spokane, depending on your location in Central Washington. If you are coming from Seattle, take exit 232 for WA-20 E towards Burlington. Continue on WA-20 E for about 60 miles. After passing through the town of Concrete, look for signs for North Cascades National Park. Turn left onto Cascade River Road and continue for approximately 20 miles until you reach the Sourdough Mountain Trailhead parking area. Note that there is no fee for parking. From the trailhead, it's about a 5-mile hike with significant elevation gain to reach the lookout.
Public Transportation + Hiking
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a Greyhound or Amtrak bus to Sedro-Woolley. From Sedro-Woolley, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to the North Cascades National Park entrance, as public transport options are limited in this region. Once at the park entrance, head to Cascade River Road. You may need to walk or hitch a ride to the Sourdough Mountain Trailhead. The hike from the trailhead to the lookout is approximately 5 miles with steep sections, so be prepared for a challenging trek.
