Public Bus
To reach Fremont in Seattle from Kirkland, start by walking to the nearest bus stop. If you're in downtown Kirkland, head to the Kirkland Transit Center. From there, take Metro Bus Route 255 towards Seattle. Enjoy the scenic ride, which will take approximately 30 minutes. After about 20 stops, get off at the 5th Avenue N & Broad Street stop in Seattle. From there, walk north on 5th Avenue N towards Mercer Street. At Mercer, turn left and walk until you reach Fremont Avenue N. Continue walking north until you arrive in the Fremont neighborhood. Look for the iconic Fremont Troll and local shops along the way!
Light Rail
If you prefer to travel via light rail, walk to the nearest bus stop and take Metro Bus Route 542 to the University of Washington Light Rail Station. Once you arrive, purchase a ticket and board the Link Light Rail towards Northgate Station. After approximately 15 minutes, get off at the Westlake Station. From Westlake, take the Downtown Seattle Connector bus (Route 40) towards Ballard and get off at the Fremont Avenue N & 34th Street stop. Walk a short distance to explore the Fremont area.

If you are in central Kirkland and want to enjoy a bit of nature, consider walking to Fremont, though it is quite a distance (about 5 miles). Start by heading west on Lake Street to reach the Kirkland Waterfront Park. Continue along the waterfront until you reach Juanita Bay Park. Follow the trails through the park, eventually making your way to Juanita Drive NE. Follow Juanita Drive to the northwest, which will lead you toward the Burke-Gilman Trail. Follow the trail towards Seattle, and after a scenic walk, you will enter the Fremont neighborhood. This option will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, but you will enjoy beautiful views along the way.
