Car
To reach Buckner Orchard by car, start by driving to Highway 20, which is the main route through the North Cascades. From the town of Marblemount, head east on Highway 20 until you reach the junction with the Stehekin Valley Road, which is about 28 miles from Marblemount. Turn onto Stehekin Valley Road and continue driving until you reach the Stehekin River. You'll need to park your car at the parking area near the Stehekin Landing. Note that there are no roads directly into Stehekin; you will take a ferry, shuttle, or hike from here to reach the orchard.
Ferry
From the Stehekin Landing, take the Stehekin Ferry to reach the trailhead for Buckner Orchard. The ferry runs several times a day, but be sure to check the schedule in advance for availability and cost. The ferry ride provides beautiful views of Lake Chelan and the surrounding mountains. Once you disembark at the Stehekin Landing, follow the signs to the Buckner Orchard trailhead. The hike is short but offers stunning views of the orchard and the surrounding landscape.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, take a Greyhound bus or Amtrak train to the nearest major city, which is Wenatchee. From Wenatchee, you can take a shuttle service to Stehekin. Several local companies offer shuttle services that can take you from Wenatchee to the ferry terminal at Chelan. Once you arrive at Chelan, board the ferry to Stehekin, and then follow the hiking trail to Buckner Orchard. Be sure to book your shuttle and ferry tickets in advance, as they can fill up quickly during peak tourist season.
