Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
From Seattle, take I-5 North towards Everett. Continue on I-5 until you reach exit 255 for WA-542 East towards Mt. Baker. Follow WA-542 East for approximately 30 miles until you reach the town of Glacier. In Glacier, turn right onto NF-32. Follow NF-32 for about 12 miles until you reach the Hannegan Trailhead parking area, which is located on the left side of the road. The drive from Seattle takes around 2 hours.
Public Transportation + Car
Take a Greyhound or Amtrak bus from Seattle to the town of Glacier. Once in Glacier, you may need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to NF-32, as public transit options are limited. The taxi ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes and will cost around $30-$50. Once you arrive at NF-32, continue driving for about 12 miles until you reach the Hannegan Trailhead parking area.
Carpool
If you are traveling with a group or can find others heading to the Hannegan Trailhead, consider carpooling. This can save on fuel costs and parking fees. Use social media platforms or local hiking forums to find fellow hikers who may want to share a ride. Follow the same driving instructions as for the car option from Seattle or your starting point.
