If you are traveling by car, start from Winthrop, WA 98862. From Winthrop, head north on State Route 20 (North Cascades Highway). Continue on Route 20 for approximately 25 miles until you reach the junction with County Road 11 (also known as Slate Peak Road). Turn left onto County Road 11. Follow this road for about 8 miles, where you will begin to see signs for Slate Peak. The road will narrow and may become rough; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Continue until you reach the Slate Peak Trailhead parking area, where you will find information and parking facilities.
