Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Winthrop, WA 98862. From Winthrop, head north on State Route 20 (North Cascades Highway). Continue on Route 20 for approximately 25 miles until you reach the junction with County Road 11 (also known as Slate Peak Road). Turn left onto County Road 11. Follow this road for about 8 miles, where you will begin to see signs for Slate Peak. The road will narrow and may become rough; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Continue until you reach the Slate Peak Trailhead parking area, where you will find information and parking facilities.

Public Transportation + Car Rental
If you are using public transportation, you can take a bus from Seattle to Winthrop. Check with Greyhound or other local bus services for schedules. Once in Winthrop, you will need to rent a car as public transportation does not reach the Slate Peak Trailhead. Rental services are available in Winthrop. After renting the car, follow the same directions as above: head north on State Route 20, turn left onto County Road 11, and follow it to the Slate Peak Trailhead.
