Public Transit
If you are in downtown Tacoma, start by heading to the Tacoma Dome Station, which is a central hub for public transit. From there, board Pierce Transit Bus Route 62 towards the Westgate area. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes until you reach the stop at Pearl Street and 51st Street. From this stop, walk west on 51st Street for about 0.5 miles until you reach Point Defiance Park. You will see the park entrance on your left.

If you are staying in the Point Ruston area or near the waterfront, you can take a scenic walk to Point Defiance Park. Start walking north along the waterfront path towards Point Defiance Park. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles and will take about 30 minutes. Enjoy the views of Commencement Bay along the way. When you reach the park entrance, you will be able to explore the beautiful gardens and scenic points.

For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing stations in downtown Tacoma. Head west on S 11th St and then turn right onto Pacific Ave. Continue on Pacific Ave until you reach the intersection with N 51st St. Turn left onto N 51st St, and follow it straight into Point Defiance Park. The total distance is about 3 miles and should take around 15-20 minutes.
