Getting There
Car
From any point in The Methow Valley, head southeast on WA-20 E. Continue on WA-20 E for approximately 15 miles until you reach the junction with WA-153 S. Take a left onto WA-153 S and drive for about 10 miles. Follow signs to the Pasayten Wilderness entrance, which will be on your right after you pass through the town of Twisp. Parking is available at various trailheads, but be sure to check for any parking fees which can vary by location.
Public Transportation
Take the North Central Transit bus service from Winthrop or Twisp to the nearest bus stop on WA-20. You may need to check the bus schedule in advance as service may be limited, especially on weekends. Once you reach your bus stop, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the remaining distance to Pasayten Wilderness, as public transport does not directly access the wilderness area. Expect to pay for the taxi service, which can range from $30 to $60 depending on the distance.
Hiking
If you are in the vicinity of a trailhead, such as the Methow Pass Trailhead or the Slate Pass Trailhead, you can hike into the Pasayten Wilderness area. Begin your hike using the marked trails. Make sure to carry a map and compass, as well as sufficient supplies for a day hike or overnight stay. There are no entrance fees for hiking into the wilderness, but a Northwest Forest Pass may be required for parking at certain trailheads.
