Car
If you are traveling by car, start on WA-2 E from anywhere in The Selkirk Mountains. Follow WA-2 E for approximately 40 miles until you reach Spokane. Once in Spokane, merge onto I-90 E and continue for about 12 miles. Take exit 283 for WA-206 N toward Mount Spokane State Park. Stay on WA-206 N for about 10 miles. You will see signs for Mount Spokane State Park, where Vista House is located. Follow the signs to the parking area near Vista House. Note that there may be a day-use fee for parking, typically around $10.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Spokane to Mount Spokane. You can catch the bus from the Spokane Transit Center. The route may vary, so check the latest schedules on the Spokane Transit Authority website. Once you arrive at Mount Spokane, you will need to walk approximately 2 miles to Vista House. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and check the weather conditions as the trails may vary in difficulty.
Bicycle
For adventurous travelers, biking to Vista House is a great option. You can rent a bike in Spokane and take the same route as you would if driving, following WA-206 N toward Mount Spokane State Park. The distance from Spokane is approximately 20 miles, and the ride includes some elevation gain, so be prepared for a challenging ride. Ensure your bike is in good condition and carry plenty of water and snacks. Be mindful of traffic, especially on WA-206.
