Car
From any location in The Skagit Valley, you can reach Northern State Recreation Area by car. Start by heading towards Sedro-Woolley. If you're starting from Mount Vernon, take I-5 North and exit at WA-20 East towards Sedro-Woolley. Continue on WA-20 for approximately 12 miles. Once you reach Sedro-Woolley, turn left onto Helmick Road. The entrance to Northern State Recreation Area will be on your right after about 1 mile. There is no entrance fee to the park.

If you're using public transportation, take Skagit Transit Route 90 from Mount Vernon to Sedro-Woolley. The bus will drop you off at the Sedro-Woolley Bus Terminal. From there, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to reach Northern State Recreation Area, as public transit does not directly serve the park. The taxi ride will take approximately 15 minutes and may cost around $15-$20.
