From any location in The Skagit Valley, you can reach Northern State Recreation Area by car. Start by heading towards Sedro-Woolley. If you're starting from Mount Vernon, take I-5 North and exit at WA-20 East towards Sedro-Woolley. Continue on WA-20 for approximately 12 miles. Once you reach Sedro-Woolley, turn left onto Helmick Road. The entrance to Northern State Recreation Area will be on your right after about 1 mile. There is no entrance fee to the park.
