Walking
From the Harper's Ferry National Historical Park Visitor Center, head south on Washington Street towards the intersection with High Street. Turn left onto High Street and continue walking until you reach the intersection with Shenandoah Street. Turn right onto Shenandoah Street, which will lead you to the footbridge over the Shenandoah River. Cross the footbridge and follow the trail markers leading you to the Appalachian Trail. Continue following the Appalachian Trail signs, which will guide you towards the Final Attack Trail. The trailhead will be on your right after about a half-mile of walking.
Biking
If you have access to a bike, rent one from a local shop in Harper's Ferry. Start at the Harper's Ferry National Historical Park Visitor Center and head south on Washington Street. Turn left onto High Street, and then right onto Shenandoah Street. Follow Shenandoah Street to the footbridge and cross over to the other side of the river. Once across, you can bike along the C&O Canal Towpath until you reach the turnoff for the Appalachian Trail. Follow the markers until you reach the Final Attack Trail.
Hiking
If you enjoy hiking, you can start at the Harper's Ferry National Historical Park Visitor Center. Follow the same initial route by heading south on Washington Street, turning left onto High Street, and then right onto Shenandoah Street. Cross the footbridge over the Shenandoah River. Once you are on the other side, follow the signs for the Appalachian Trail. Be sure to look for directional signs that will lead you to the Final Attack Trail after about a half-mile of hiking. This route offers beautiful views of the area.
