    If you are driving, start from any point in the Driftless Area and head towards Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Use the following directions: From Decorah, IA, take IA-9 W for about 25 miles until you reach the junction with IA-76. Turn right onto IA-76 N and continue for approximately 10 miles. You will see the entrance to Effigy Mounds National Monument on your left at 151 IA-76, Harpers Ferry, IA 52146. Parking is available at the visitor center.

  • Public Transportation

    Public transportation options may be limited, but you can take a bus from nearby towns to the nearest city, which is Prairie du Chien, WI. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining distance to Effigy Mounds National Monument (approximately 20 miles). Be prepared for potential costs associated with the taxi or rideshare.

  • Bicycle

    For the adventurous, biking to Effigy Mounds National Monument is an option if you are within a reasonable distance.
