Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, head to La Crosse, Wisconsin. Use your GPS or maps application and enter 'Great River State Trail, La Crosse, WI 54603' as your destination. The trailhead is located near the intersection of 5th Avenue and 1st Street South. If you're coming from nearby towns such as Viroqua or Prairie du Chien, take Highway 14 or Highway 35 towards La Crosse. Upon arriving, look for parking areas near the trail access points. Note that parking may be available nearby at Riverside Park.

• Public Transportation

  For visitors using public transportation, start by checking the local bus services. The La Crosse Municipal Transit Utility operates buses that can take you close to the Great River State Trail. You can board the bus at various locations in the Driftless Area, such as Viroqua or West Salem, depending on the available routes.
