Walking
If you're starting from the Wisconsin State Capitol, head east on East Wilson Street towards North Carroll Street. Turn left onto North Carroll Street and walk north until you reach East Washington Avenue. Take a right on East Washington Avenue and continue walking until you reach North Milwaukee Street. Here, you will catch a bus (Route 5) at the East Washington Ave & Milwaukee St stop. Take the bus towards Northport Drive. After 15 minutes, get off at Northport Dr & Lakeland Ave. From the bus stop, walk southwest on Lakeland Avenue for about 5 minutes until you reach the Lizard Effigy Mound Historic Marker located at the intersection of Lakeland Ave and Hudson Ave.
Bicycle
Starting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, head northeast on University Ave. Continue onto East Washington Ave. You can find a bike lane on this route. After approximately 2 miles, turn right onto North Milwaukee Street. Keep cycling until you reach the Northport Dr & Lakeland Ave intersection. At this point, you will need to turn onto Lakeland Avenue and cycle for about 1 mile until you spot the Lizard Effigy Mound Historic Marker at the intersection of Lakeland Ave and Hudson Ave.
Public Transit
From the downtown area, take the Metro Transit bus Route 5 at the State St & Johnson St stop. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the next departure. Ride the bus for approximately 20 minutes, then get off at the Northport Dr & Lakeland Ave stop. From there, walk south along Lakeland Ave for about 5 minutes. The Lizard Effigy Mound Historic Marker will be on your left at the intersection with Hudson Ave.
