From Laramie, head east on I-80 E. After about 15 miles, take exit 323 for Buford. Turn right onto US-287 N and follow it for approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto Monument Rd. The Ames Monument State Historic Site is located at 210 Monument Rd, Buford, WY 82052, approximately 0.5 miles down the dirt road. Please be aware that this road may be unpaved, so drive cautiously.

Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly to Ames Monument. However, you can take a Greyhound bus from Laramie to Buford. Once you arrive in Buford, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Ames Monument State Historic Site, which is about 5 miles away. Ensure to confirm ride availability in advance, as services may be limited.

If you are feeling adventurous and want to cycle, you can take the same route as by car. Start by cycling east on I-80 E from Laramie. After about 15 miles, take the exit for Buford and continue on US-287 N. Please note that the roads may not have dedicated bike lanes, so use caution. Once you reach Monument Rd, continue down the dirt road to reach the Ames Monument State Historic Site.
