If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Wind River Basin. Head east on WY-26 towards Riverton. After approximately 25 miles, take the exit onto US-287 S/WY-789 S towards Rawlins. Continue on US-287 S for about 40 miles until you reach the junction with WY-220. Turn right onto WY-220 and follow it for about 15 miles. Independence Rock State Historic Site will be on your left, marked by signs. The drive should take around 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
