Car
If you are in the Wind River Basin, start by heading southwest on WY-28 from the center of the basin. Continue for about 15 miles until you reach the junction with WY-789. Take a left onto WY-789 and continue driving for approximately 24 miles. You will pass through the town of Thermopolis. As you approach Thermopolis, look for signs directing you to Wind River Canyon. The canyon is located just outside of town on WY-789, and you will see stunning views as you drive into the canyon area. There are several scenic pullouts along the way for photo opportunities.

While public transportation options are limited in rural Wyoming, you can take a bus from Riverton to Thermopolis. The bus service, operated by the Wyoming Department of Transportation, may run a few times a week.
