Car
From any location in the Wind River Range, you should first navigate to US-20. If you're in the Lander area, head northwest on S 2nd St toward US-287 N. Merge onto US-287 N and continue until you reach US-20 E in Thermopolis. Follow US-20 E for approximately 60 miles. Upon reaching Thermopolis, turn left onto WY-120 N. After about 2 miles, turn left onto Cottonwood Road. The Legend Rock State Petroglyph Site will be located on your left at 2861 West Cottonwood Road.
Public Transportation
While public transportation options are limited in this rural area, you can take a Greyhound bus to Thermopolis. From the Thermopolis bus station, you can take a taxi or use rideshare services to reach the Legend Rock State Petroglyph Site on Cottonwood Road. The site is approximately 2 miles from the bus station, so be prepared for a short taxi ride.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and want to explore the area by bicycle, you can ride from Thermopolis to the Legend Rock State Petroglyph Site. Start in Thermopolis and head northwest on WY-120 N. After about 2 miles, turn left onto Cottonwood Road. The site will be on your left. Be sure to wear a helmet and stay safe on the road.
