Car
From Mongu, take the Kalabo Road (P4H8+MRC) heading west towards Kalabo. The drive is approximately 70 kilometers and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on road conditions. Keep an eye out for road signs indicating the direction to the Barotse flood plain. Once you reach the flood plain, you'll notice the expansive wetlands and beautiful scenery.
Public Transport (Minibus)
In Mongu, locate the minibus station near the main market. Look for minibuses heading to Kalabo. The fare is typically around ZMW 15-30. The journey may take about 2 hours. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Barotse flood plain, and they will drop you off at a convenient point along the Kalabo Road. Be prepared for a short walk to the actual flood plain area, as minibuses may not go all the way in.
