Walking
From the center of Chipata, head north on the main road (Great East Road). Continue walking for approximately 3 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Kakumbi Road. Turn left onto Kakumbi Road and proceed for about 5 kilometers. Keep an eye on local signage or ask locals for directions to Chinzombo viewpoint, as it is a popular local destination. As you approach the area, the viewpoint is located along the riverbank, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Bicycle
Starting from Chipata, rent a bicycle from a local shop in the city. Cycle north along the Great East Road for about 3 kilometers. After reaching the junction with Kakumbi Road, turn left and continue cycling for approximately 5 kilometers. Be cautious of traffic and local wildlife along the way. Look out for signs directing you to Chinzombo viewpoint, situated near the riverbank, which will provide an excellent vantage point for viewing the scenery.
Local Transport (Bicycle Taxi)
Inquire at your accommodation or local market about bicycle taxis (locally known as 'boda bodas'). Hire a bicycle taxi to take you from Chipata to Chinzombo viewpoint. Provide the driver with the destination 'Kakumbi', and they will navigate the route for you. The journey will take around 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic.
