    If you are driving from Chipata, take the T4 road towards the town of Petauke. Continue on the T4 for about 130 km until you reach the junction at Mambwe. Here, turn left onto the road towards Lubwe. Follow this road for approximately 70 km until you reach Lubwe. From Lubwe, you can navigate to the Bangweulu Peninsula, which is located at the coordinates RJ4M+C9. Make sure to have a reliable vehicle, as some parts of the road may be rough.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Bangweulu Peninsula using public transport, start at the Chipata bus station. Board a bus heading to Petauke, which is a frequent route. The bus fare is approximately 30 ZMW. Once you arrive in Petauke, find a minibus to Mambwe (around 20 ZMW). After reaching Mambwe, take another minibus towards Lubwe (about 30 ZMW). Once in Lubwe, you can hire a local taxi or arrange for a bike rental to reach the Bangweulu Peninsula, which is 15 km away from Lubwe. Expect to pay around 50 ZMW for the taxi.

  • Combination of Car and Boat

    If you have access to a car, drive to the nearest point of the Bangweulu swamps. From Lubwe, proceed to the shores of the Bangweulu swamps, where you can find local fishermen who offer boat rides to explore the area. The boat ride can cost around 100 ZMW per person depending on the distance and the duration of your trip. Ensure to negotiate the price before boarding.
