Car
If you're driving from Mutare, take the A3 highway towards Harare. After about 85 kilometers, turn off onto the A4 road towards Nyanga. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Bambata Cave. Follow the signs for the cave. The last stretch is a gravel road that may require a 4x4 vehicle depending on the weather. Ensure to check the condition of the road before heading out.
Public Transportation
From Mutare, board a bus heading to Nyanga. The fare is approximately $5-10 USD. Once you arrive in Nyanga, you may need to take a shared taxi or arrange for a local transport service to reach the Bambata Cave entrance, which is about 15 kilometers from the town. Ensure to agree on the fare before starting your journey. The cost for a taxi ride should be around $10-15 USD.
Hiking
If you’re adventurous and already near the cave, consider hiking from the nearest town. Ensure you have a local guide, as the trails can be challenging. The hike may take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on your fitness level. Bring plenty of water and snacks, and wear suitable footwear for hiking.
