Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Mutare, head south on the A3 highway towards Chimanimani. After approximately 65 kilometers, take a right turn onto the Biriiri Road (also known as the Chimanimani Road). Follow this road for about 30 kilometers. As you approach Chimanimani town, keep an eye out for signs directing you to Chimanimani National Park. You will likely need to pay a small entrance fee at the park gate, so keep some Zimbabwean dollars handy.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Chimanimani National Park via public transport, first take a bus from Mutare to Chimanimani. Buses depart regularly from the Mutare bus station and the journey takes about 2-3 hours, costing around 5-10 Zimbabwean dollars. Once you arrive in Chimanimani town, you can take a local taxi or walk to the park entrance, which is approximately 10 kilometers away. Be prepared for a small entrance fee at the park.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Mutare to Chimanimani. The taxi ride will take about 1.5 to 2 hours and will cost you around 50-100 Zimbabwean dollars, depending on your negotiation skills and the time of day. Make sure the taxi driver knows the destination, as some may not be familiar with the park directly.

• Walking

  For those feeling adventurous and already in Chimanimani, you can hike to the entrance of Chimanimani National Park. The walk from the town center to the park is roughly 10 kilometers and will take around 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. Bring plenty of water and wear suitable hiking shoes as the terrain can be rugged.
