    Eleven Days That Never Felt Repetitive What surprised me most about this trip was how different Kerala felt from one part of the route to the next. The first few days had us surrounded by hills, cooler air and huge stretches of green. Later the scenery became more forested and rural, and then suddenly we were travelling through backwater country where everything seemed to move at half the speed. One of my favourite memories was actually a very ordinary evening. We had finished the day's travelling, found somewhere local to eat and spent the rest of the time talking about everything we had already seen. There was no sightseeing plan left for the day, and that made it even better. The houseboat experience was another highlight. I expected it to be quite touristy, but once we were moving through the quieter waterways it felt completely different. Watching homes, boats and everyday life along the banks was something I could have done for hours. The beach days later in the trip were well timed too. After several days of moving around, having time to walk, eat slowly and do absolutely nothing for a while was very welcome. Our driver deserves credit as well. Eleven days together is a long time, but he was consistently polite, punctual and easy to travel with. He never made our spontaneous stops feel inconvenient. Troper Tours handled the arrangements without making the holiday feel controlled. We knew where we were going and what was organised, but still had enough freedom to enjoy each day differently. By the end, Kerala did not feel like one destination at all. It felt like several completely different trips joined together, and that is probably what made the eleven days go so quickly.i’m

    We chose the 11-day Kerala itinerary because we wanted enough time to see different parts of the state without changing hotels every single night. Looking at the route beforehand, I wasn't sure whether eleven days would feel too long, but it actually worked very well. Munnar was probably the biggest change from what we are used to at home. The cooler air, tea-covered slopes and winding mountain roads made the first part of the trip feel completely different. From there, Thekkady brought forests and spice plantations, and we enjoyed having time to explore rather than rushing through. The backwaters were another highlight. Spending a night on the houseboat was much more enjoyable than I expected. After several days of sightseeing, it was nice to have an evening where there wasn't much to do except eat, sit outside and watch the scenery slowly pass by. What I particularly liked about having eleven days was the variety later in the trip. Varkala, Kollam and Kumarakom each had their own atmosphere, so the journey never became a repetition of the same sightseeing. Troper Tours also kept the practical side simple. The private vehicle stayed with us throughout, and the team was reachable whenever we needed clarification. We never felt that we had to organise a new transfer every time we moved to another destination. For anyone who has enough time for a longer Kerala holiday, I think this itinerary makes much more sense than trying to squeeze the same number of places into five or six days. We had time to actually enjoy Kerala rather than just pass through it.

    Okay, I’ll admit it — before booking this, I wondered if eleven days around Kerala might be a bit much. We normally prefer shorter holidays and I was expecting the last few days to feel like “okay, we've seen enough now.” Completely wrong. The funny thing was how quickly the scenery kept changing. Munnar felt like another country with the cool air and huge green slopes. Then Thekkady brought forests, spice plantations and a totally different atmosphere. By the time we reached the backwaters, we were more than ready for some serious slowing down. The houseboat was the part where we properly switched off. No alarms, no rushing around trying to squeeze in another attraction. We ate, sat outside, watched the water and basically did very little. After several days on the road, that was exactly what we needed. The later part of the trip surprised us too. Varkala had a completely different energy, while Kollam and Kumarakom felt quieter and less hectic. Kochi at the end gave us one last taste of the city before the journey was over. And honestly, the road trips were not as tiring as I expected. Having the same private vehicle meant we weren't constantly sorting out taxis or figuring out how to get our luggage from one place to another. We could stop when something caught our attention, grab a chai, take photographs or just have a random conversation about something we saw. Troper Tours kept the background stuff under control, which was exactly what we wanted. We didn't need someone organising every minute for us — we just needed the important things to work. Eleven days sounded ambitious when we started. By the final morning, we were already talking about what we'd come back to see next time. That's probably the best review I can give.

    I thought we might get bored after a week of travelling around Kerala. Turns out… absolutely not. Every few days the whole mood changed. Munnar was cool, misty and ridiculously green. We stopped more times than planned because somebody was always shouting, “wait, look at that view!” 😄 Thekkady was another story altogether — more forest, spice plantations and that feeling of being properly away from the busy city. Then Alleppey came along and basically told us to slow down. The houseboat evening was brilliant. Good food, water everywhere, villages along the banks and nowhere we urgently needed to be. We just sat outside for ages doing nothing, which after several days of travelling was actually perfect. The southern part of the trip was different again. Varkala had a fun, laid-back atmosphere and we enjoyed wandering around without having to follow a sightseeing list. Kumarakom was much quieter and gave us another peaceful backwater experience, while Kovalam was a nice place to finish. Another thing that made the 11 days work was having the same transport arranged. We didn't have to keep figuring out taxis or trains every time we moved. Our driver knew the roads, helped with little suggestions and was pretty relaxed when we wanted an unplanned stop. Troper Tours kept the arrangements running in the background without constantly interfering with our holiday. If we had a question, they were easy to reach, and that gave us a lot of confidence. Would I recommend doing 11 days instead of trying to squeeze Kerala into 5 or 6? For us, definitely. We had enough time to explore, but also enough lazy moments to actually enjoy where we were.
