Once you arrive at Vypin Island, disembark and look for local transport options like auto-rickshaws or taxis to reach Kumarakom, which is about 35 kilometers away. Make sure to confirm your destination with the driver.
Auto-Rickshaw
If you're in the Kochi city area, you can hire an auto-rickshaw directly to Kumarakom. Simply tell the driver 'Kumarakom' and negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The ride will take approximately 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic conditions. The most convenient route is via the NH66 highway. Enjoy the scenic views of Kerala on your way!
Public Bus
For a budget-friendly option, take a public bus from Kochi to Kumarakom. Head to the Ernakulam bus station, which is well connected to various parts of Kochi. Look for buses heading towards Kottayam or Kumarakom specifically. The journey will take about 2-2.5 hours, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Once you arrive at the Kumarakom bus station, you can take a local auto-rickshaw or walk to your final destination within Kumarakom.
