What to expect
After a 30-minute drive from Avignon, photo stop at the Arc de Triomphe in Orange with listening to audios retracing the history of the monument.
Audioguided tour of the majestic ancient theatre built around 20 BC. Then about 30 minutes drive to Pont du Gard
After an hour-long picnic overlooking the Pont du Gard, walk around the magnificent and imposing Pont du Gard which was part of a 52 km long Roman aqueduct to supply Nîmes with water. It was built around the 50s AD. Then 30 minutes drive to Nîmes.
Photo stop in front of the Maison Carrée de Nîmes, an ancient Roman temple dedicated to the grandsons of the Emperor Augustus. Then 15 minutes walk to the Nîmes Arena.
Audioguided tour of the splendid Nîmes bullring built around 100 AD on the model of the Colosseum of Rome. Then 15 minutes walk to pick up the car and about 45 minutes drive to Avignon.
