Sigiriya Museum
The museum is very educational which gives great background information. It depicts photograph galleries of excavations that took place in the Sigiriya fortress rock. Each gallery will give you a splendid exposure to explore the cultural heritage of Sigiriya rock. The museum was designed around the giant trees, and the museum is a classic example of Sri Lankan green building technology. The museum is also circled from natural water springs. This amazing fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known as the 8th wonder of the world. Sigiriya was built by the fifth-century king Kashyapa I, who ruled the native Sinhalese dynasty, the Moriya. The imposing fortress was the capital of the Sinhalese kingdom until Kashyapa was defeated in A.D. 495. The ancient palace is located on top of the rock, surrounded by beautiful gardens and water pools and the technology used to build the palace is still a mystery.
The Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Tombs is an ancient burial site located near Ibbankatuwa Wewa in Galewela DS, Sri Lanka. The site is thought to belong to the megalithic prehistoric and protohistoric periods of Sri Lanka and is considered one of the several ancient burial sites that have been found in the country.
Dambulla cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. A sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery, with its five sanctuaries, is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mural paintings are of particular importance, as are the 157 statues.
