    SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHPLACE TRUST. My wife and I bought a combination Shakespeare's Story ticket which cost £27 each. This offered a significant saving compared to the price of 3 individual tickets. This allowed access to: Shakespeare's Birthplace. 4 stars An interesting to walk around. Anne Hathaway's Cottage. 5 stars A great experience of where Shakespeare's wife grew up with many pieces of original furniture over 400 years old. Fascinating to see how people lived in the 1600s. Shakespeare's New Place. 4 stars The original house was destroyed centuries ago. As part of the included attractions, it was an interesting visit but I'm not sure if we'd have paid to see it otherwise.

    The volunteers were very helpful and very knowledgeable. We took our dog and they were very accommodating. We visited the birthplace of Shakespeare and loved the gardens. The New Place is very nice and again the garden was wonderful. Anne Hathaway's Cottage garden and Orchard was really nice and the dog got a little run round. The volunteers again were very knowledgeable and enhanced the experience. To fully appreciate the sites I would recommend visiting on a warm summer's day.

    This felt a bit expensive when I was looking into it before we travelled. But, when you get to Stratford and start to visit each of the properties you realise that it is worth every penny. The online booking process was easy and not having to see all three venues in one day a bonus. Each site is well run, the teams are both knowledgeable and passionate. The gardens at each are lovely, showing lots of blooms for all year round. Toilets at each are fresh and clean. Slightly limited options re food - mostly hot/cold drinks and crisps and biscuits. May be a post Covid situation but worth being aware. Not that you’ll be stuck for food in Stratford!

    Not being a Shakespeare nut I still enjoyed this as did hubby - even more a non Shakespeare person than myself. We visited his home, the new place and Anne Hathaway cottage. The houses were lovely but it was the gardens that took our fancy. The guides were all lovely and looked after my mobility scooter whilst I looked at the ground floors of the buildings and also showed me the upstairs using the ipad. It was interesting to read all the information about him and his family so maybe it was just my English teacher that couldn't get me more interested in the plays - I had remember some of the more famous quote so maybe something had stuck

    We loved this. It was a real education and the volunteers at each of the properties really brought the places alive. Very invested in the history and so knowledgeable. I have seen a couple of people grumble about bookings, costs and various other things. I personally think for the privilege of walking in Shakespeare and Hathaway's footsteps, part of which is buildings hundreds of years old with huge preservation overheads, with good, clean toilets and well staffed visitor areas, it's all a very reasonable price. Booking was very easy online and I would expect to have to book for visiting somewhere as famous as this. I can't imagine there's much for kids at the Birthplace or New Place, but Anne Hathaway's House has a great orchard and wilding area with a puzzle trail for the kids. New Place was the real revelation for me, I didn't expect much, but the chap on site explaining everything really gave it all context. All fascinating, and I would highly recommend.
