This was a great adventure. I’m an experienced hiker, and this was a long day. Over four hours up, and three down. But WORTH it. I was lucky to be with Hector solo for the day. He was knowledgeable, and fun to hang with for 7 hours. Bring water. I needed 2.5 liters. I also ate 5 sandwiches and some snacks (but I also weigh 240 lbs). You are walking up and down a road all day, with a 5-10 min class 2/3 scramble at the very end. Views from the top are insane. Both oceans and Costa Rica. Oh, and hector carried a coffee thermos to the top!!! Thanks hector for a great day.

Waouh! What an outing, what memories! Thanks to Melissa our outstanding driver, because the 4x4 route to climb, is worth the detour alone.

Going up the volcano is quite an experience and I wouldn’t want to have missed it, even though it was cloudy and misty.
The drive up the volcano is quite taxing, but it’s fine.
Unfortunately, the hand grips inside the car were broken which meant that you bounced around more than necessary - it made an already bumpy ride a terrible ride for some passengers.
Communication from the company regarding what you need, how to dress, what to expect etc. were lacking. Also, letting you know you’re first, second or third in line of three pick-ups would have helped.
I also think we’re past the age of trying to make it up with food. The “breakfast” was meh.
The “guide”, Jose, was a good driver. But, he’s not a people person and seemed disinterested in his guests - especially if you consider that for most of us it’s probably a once in a lifetime experience.
I wish “guiding companies” would teach people basic relations, some basic natural history, and at least endemic bird species.

You will appreciate the beauty of the highest mountains in Panama above 3000 meters above sea level. along the way you will appreciate the lush vegetation and endemic animals of the National Park such as the Quetzal, Pajaro Campanero, Gato Solo, etc. When we reach the top by the narrow Panamanian territory we can appreciate both seas.

We will appreciate the sunrise at the top of the Barú Volcano and then make the descent and return.
