The tour begins with a drive along the iconic Promenade des Anglais – a renowned boulevard along the Bay of Angels, stretching between Nice Cote d’Azur Airport and Port Lympia. Lined with prestigious hotels, including the majestic Negresco, it is a true gem of belle-epoque architecture. For over a century and a half, it has been a favorite destination for leisurely walks, as well as activities such as jogging, biking, or roller-skating.
Our first stop would take place in front of St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral - the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe, opened in 1912 and meant to serve the large Russian community that had settled in Nice by the end of the 19th century.
Next, we head to the historic district of Nice, known as Cimiez. This area is renowned not only for the grand Winter Palace, once frequented by Queen Victoria, but also for the nearby ruins of the ancient Roman city of Cemenelum, dating back to the 1st century CE. As you explore this fascinating archaeological site, you'll gain insights into Nice's rich history, surrounded by beautiful olive groves.
