    We took this tour with Gonzalo. Gonzalo is extremely knowledgeable about Bilbao and basque cuisine generally. It was a pleasure to explore Bilbao and try some really great food. Highlights for me were the foie de bacalao, the bocadillos and all the great Basque wines. Gonzalo also gave us lots of recommendations for the rest of our stay and beyond. Another great experience with Culinary Backstreets!

    Gonzalo was a fantastic and informative guide - just the right amount of food and some short walks between stops, with a lot of local recommendations and tips for traveling in the region - highly recommend this tour.

    This tour is the most delicious way to truly discover Bilbao. Gonzalo’s knowledge of the history and culture of the city combined with his choice of the places the locals frequent made for a memorable day of tasting and sipping. Standouts among the many pintxos and portions we sampled were “The Perfect Marriage” anchovies and the chorizo cooked in cider. Highly recommend this tour with Gonzalo, who made our walking afternoon a well-paced feast to remember.

    I didn’t expect to be the only one on the tour and get my own personal tour guide, but Gonzalo was great! We hit a lot of good local spots and tried many things I wouldn’t have found on my own. I got a bunch of good info on Basque culture and history, and good conversation about northern Spain. I’m moving to Spain this year and this was a great intro to the area. I did 2 CB tours in Portugal 2 years ago, and the tour quality is always top notch. I even got to re-visit the Puppy outside the Guggenheim after he was uncovered from his May refresh.

    This is a “must do” tour in Bilbao! It was perfect to be guided through the delicious cuisine Bilbao has to offer and the city itself. Our tour guide, Gonzalo was knowledgeable and personable with an amazing culinary background and in-depth experience with where to go to try the broad range of flavors and foods the city has to offer. The pace was well planned and enjoyable. Excellent all around and fun.
