What to expect
On the way to Chopta we will stop at Devprayag. It is the place where two glacier rivers; Alaknanda and Bhagirati form the Ganges.
Chamoli District
Sari village - situated at 2011m above the sea level is untouched by civilisation. Around 1000 people live here and their life is dedicated to agriculture. The village is rich in peach and apple orchards and rhododendron trees. We will have traditional chai when we get here and then we will trek about 2.5km to the top. We will spend a night there at the campsite, where local family will prepare fresh, garhwali dinner for us. We will enjoy music and dance by the bonfire and enjoy the view of the clear, starry sky.
Deoria Tal Lake
After a breakfast, we will start our forest walk. First after around 2.5km we will reach Deoria Tal Lake at an altitude 2438m. The lake is surrounded by lush greenery with the view of the snow covered Himalayas in the backdrop.
Chopta
On the way we will pass Rohini Bugyal. It is a serene meadow hidden in the dense forest of Chopta Valley.
We will wake up at around 4am and have a chai. Then we will walk up to top of the Chandrashilla Peak to watch the sunrise. If the visibility is good, we will be able to see India's second highest peak - Nanda Devi and have paramount view of the Indian Himalayas. After we will walk down to the Tungnath Temple, which is the highest situated Shiva Temple in the world. We will have a breakfast there and walk back to Chopta. There will be some free time and in the evening we will go for a walk where we will be able to see Himalayan Birds and Mountain Goats. Then we will have a bonfire and dinner in the evening.
Rishikesh
After breakfast we will drive towards Rishikesh. The drive will take around 6-7 hours.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
