This was perhaps the best day we spent in Portugal. Our driver & guide Gonzalo more than exceeded our expectations - he became a friend. He turned our general ideas about shopping for uniquely Portuguese items into a series of visits to specialty shops in Chiado, Sintra and Baixu that offered only the best in wines, meats & cheeses, cork products, etc. Being extremely well connected, Gonzalo introduced us to the proprietors of these stores as personal friends. And - he made sure we visited Pasteis de Belem to taste the ORIGINAL version of this delicacy and showed us how to avoid the long take-out queue by eating inside.
I can’t say enough good things about the experience in general or Gonzalo specifically. I highly recommend both!
