    The journey was amazing! Our guide Jay was engaging, knowledgable, and paid special attention to each and every passenger. I don’t think I’ve seen my 5-year old grandson have so much fun. This trip exceeded my highest expectations!

    Our experience with Mild to Wild in Durango, CO was nothing short of exceptional! We booked the Trails & Rails Tour, and from start to finish, it was a flawless and unforgettable adventure. For the “Rails” portion of our day, we were lucky enough to have Jay as our guide. He picked up Brett and me in Durango and drove us up to Silverton in a comfortable shuttle van. Even during the van ride, Jay was already going above and beyond—pointing out fascinating sights, sharing local stories, and taking the time to genuinely connect with each of us. There were just four of us on the tour, and Jay managed to tailor the experience perfectly to all our interests, making it feel personal and thoughtful. The scenery along the way was absolutely breathtaking. From rugged mountain passes to lush alpine meadows, every moment was visually stunning. Jay’s deep knowledge of the area’s history and geology added so much depth to the experience—this wasn’t just a sightseeing trip, it was an education in the coolest way possible. One of the highlights was stopping to crack open rocks from an old tailings pile. Not only was it a blast, but we even found actual gold—how cool is that? It felt like stepping into a piece of Colorado mining history. Jay was kind, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the entire day feel like an adventure shared with a good friend. We can’t recommend this experience (or Jay!) highly enough. If you’re heading to Durango and want something that’s fun, unique, and incredibly well-run—Mild to Wild is the way to go!

    Our guide, Miles, was amazing! He gave us options, but we went with his expertise! He brought blankets, which I used, and stopped occasionally to talk about the history of the area. He showed us some abandoned mines and talked about the buckets that brought back materials to the Mayflower Mill. We visited a waterfall that you could walk right up to. Saw Marmots playing. Very interesting! We took the jeep tour in the morning and took the train from Silverton back to Durango.Highly recommend:)

    Miles did a great job touring us through the old mining areas and providing history. Many great views and Miles was very accommodating when riders needed a break and when we wanted to stop for pictures or small hikes to check things out.

    My daughter and I did the jeep tour with Art. We met in Durango and he drove us to Silverton for the tour. The Bike race was potentially problematic with getting there and roads being closed, but we made it in time. Note: we got to the parking lot early in morning, but didn't realize the van we would ride to Silverton in was parked so far back in the lot-so we almost missed the time window. It would be helpful for a better marked site to meet in the future. We were the first two people for the jeep tour of the season, so we had Art's undivided attention as our guide. He was so much fun and a wealth of knowledge, both with the area and even our common interests in music, traveling, wildlife, etc. We felt as if we had made a new friend! It was a perfect beginning of our day-the thrilling jeep tour, which we then took the ride back to Durango on the train! Highly recommend the tour and especially Art!

    Begin with a morning cruise from the meet location up the San Juan Skyway to Silverton, featuring dramatic views of 14,000 ft. peaks. Once in Silverton, you will switch over to our 4x4 Jeeps.
