We took a day tour from Porto to the wine country. The tour included a wine and port tasting, boat ride, lunch and ride up and back. Our driver David was super friendly, informative and an excellent driver as well - he added greatly to our experience. The vehicle was a very nice Mercedes van that was in perfect shape. The winery was quite nice and we all enjoyed their wine and port. The boat ride on the river in the wine country was truly beautiful. We had a great day and recommend the tour guide, tour company and David also - you’ll have a great time!

Very nice day tour. We were one of 2 couples in the van, so seating was comfortable. Jose, our guide, was very nice and informative. The winery and wine tasting was very good as well.
Lunch was at the tour owner's private residence. Very relaxing, refreshing setting, and excellent home-cooked food, plus more wine!

This tour was recommended to us by our hotel concierge and we mainly chose that tour as it was sold to us as a premium tour with a maximum of 6 people for the whopping price of 160 Euro per person! For this price I expect a very good experience. As I am in the travel industry myself I really have to review that tour here - as I would never ever recommend it to my clients. At the end of the day we felt really ripped off. So why was that?
As I said the tour was sold with a maximum of 6 people - we were actually 7. Yes, that is only 1 person more, but in a van that is really a question of a seating comfort. As the middle row was already occupied, we had to cramp in the backrow with a total of 3 people - one couple got split up and the husband sat in the front seat. And most of the tour you will spend driving.
The guide - was also a disappointment. Usually you would expect of a guide that he introduces himself when everybody is inside the car and explains about the program of the day. But nothing from his side - somewhere in the middle of the drive he started to talk something, but that was mainly only a talk for the person next to him. In the back it was not possible to understand anything. I was happy that I did a real excellent audio guided tour through the portwine establishment of Taylor´s the other day - as otherwise I would not get any good information about the Portwine on that tour. This guide didn´t do his job properly at all - you could feel that he was bored and not motivated.
The visit of the Portwine Yard and the tasting was good - the guy there did good explanations, was friendly and was leading us through a good tasting.
The 1 hour boat cruise on the Douro river was on a large boat together with many other noisy bus groups. No way to enjoy the beautiful scenery. I saw smaller boats cruising around - so for the price that we paid, I would have expected to be on one of them.
Usually after the boat cruise you will get a lunch and a further tasting on a small farm. As it was Sunday this was not available - to be fair that is mentioned in their brochure. But ok if the lunch is not on that specific farm, I would expect it to be at least in some nice restaurant somewhere around in that beautiful wine valley.
But no, we got lunch on the return, half-way to Porto in a normal small city outside of the valley. No view, no scenery and only very standard tourist food - and imagine the price that we paid - 160 Euro per person.
I really can not accept that and I really don´t recommend you to book this tour. Then you can also go on a regular bus tour for half the price and almost the same experience or even better rent a car and do that tour yourself.

We had a wonderful day in the Duoro Valley with David and Duoro Premium. What a spectacular wine region, and David's knowledge and passion for the region really brought it to life for us.
While it was one of the more expensive trips on offer, we would highly recommend Duoro Premium as they personalise the visit, limit the number of people on the tour, and have a couple of additional treats for you!

Me and my husband loved this tour! The tour was small - only 6 people. Our tour guide was so nice and knowledgable. The wine tasting was wonderful and the lunch at the end of the tour was fantastic. We ate at a small Airbnb-like place - several courses with wine and port. We've done several tours in our travels and this was one of the nicest.
