What to expect
Lake Malaren
From Stockholm City Hall, we board a ferry for a scenic cruise across Lake Malaren to Drottningholm Castle. During the voyage, we enjoy a picturesque view of small islands, fishing settlements with typical Swedish colorful wooden houses.
Located on the island of Lovon ,15 km west of Stockholm Drottningholm Palace is the official residence of the Swedish family since 1981 . The Castle ( Drottningholm) is listed on Unesco World Heritage and one of the best presered royal palace built in the 17th century . Also we admire the interiors of the Palace designed by French arch. Nicodemus Tessin in Rococo style.
Drottningholms Slottsteater
The Royal Theatre next to the Royal Castle was built in 1766 for Queen Lovisa Ulrika. The Theatre is an opera house used main by the Royal Family for private concerts and opera performances. Nowadays, the stage wooden machinery is original from the 18th century and still operated by hand. Around 30 sets have been preserved.
Drottningholm Palace Park
Commissioned by Queen Eleanora Edvika under the direction of Nicodemus Tessin , we have a chance to walk in the royal Gardens inspired by French Baroque style ( with trimmed hedges, flower arrangements ,water fountains). Also ,the Royal Park dating back to the 17th century, decorated with bronze sculptures ( trophies of war taken from Prag and Denmark ! ) by Dutch artist Adrian de Vries , fountains, cascades and bosquets.
Karamellan Café & Restaurang vid Drottningholm
At the end of the tour, we take a light meal in the Castle courtyard cafeteria .
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
