We had an exceptional tour with Houray. She explained the history of Rennes in the context of Grande Bretagne, including the architecture and language and cultural identity, and then brought us up to modern day -- who lives in Rennes and how the city manages growth and preservation of its unique architecture. We could have easily spent another hour with Houray, and it made our visit to Rennes so much more meaningful. We were also very fortunate to be only two people on the tour! Houray took the time to ask about our interests and adapted the tour to us. She also had terrific recommendations on where to eat and other sites to visit while we were in the city and the area, which she knows well. Highly recommend!

The 60‑minute private walking tour through central Rennes offered an interesting and compact introduction to the city. Our guide was very friendly and pleasant, though she tended to speak rather softly and maintained a generally reserved manner. Of course, this is a matter of personal style, but a slightly livelier or more engaging delivery would have made the experience even more stimulating. The historical overview was solid and informative, with a particular emphasis on churches and religious heritage. Personally, I would have appreciated a bit more insight into modern Rennes, along with a few hidden alleyways, anecdotes, or local insider tips to round out the picture. The tour ended somewhat abruptly; a short wrap‑up with directions, restaurant suggestions, or recommendations for further exploration would have been a nice touch. Despite the relatively high price, the walk provided a good overall introduction to Rennes and served as a helpful starting point for my two‑day stay in the capital of Brittany.
