In former times, a railway track led from the station directly to the lake. At that time, the historic harbour crane was used to load the goods from the ship onto the train carriage – or vice versa. On top of the steel pier tower, you have a fascinating view of Lake Constance, the opposite Swiss shore and the city of Friedrichshafen from a height of 22 metres. This is accompanied by a good glass of regionally produced wine.

The “playable” Buchhorn Fountain shows figures of the city’s history and elements of industrialization. A stylized tree with a horn lying in the well basin refers to the name "Buchhorn", the former name of the city of Friedrichshafen. Children have a lot of fun here in the summer months with the fountains splashing out of the ground. The fountain was created in 2021 by artist couple Rumpf. A “bubbly” place for a nice glass of sparkling Lake Constance wine!

The church of St. Nicholas dates back to the 13th century, but was destroyed in an air raid in the 2nd century. WK destroyed. Rebuilt, the church displays beautiful glass art windows and offers a quiet pole in the middle of the lively city center.

The city walls once surrounded the old Buchhorn. Unfortunately, she was also a victim of the bombs of the Second World War. WK. Only a few meters of it have survived to this day. This is where the bustling city centre of Friedrichshafen ends, and our path now leads over the waterfront towards the castle.

The waterfront of Friedrichshafen is one of the longest and most beautiful on Lake Constance. There are beautiful panoramic views over Lake Constance and the Swiss Alpine backdrop. Passing the impressive lake fountain with its 25 to 30 meter high water jet, it goes over the park-lined shore path. Along the way, there are shaded spots to taste a select regional wine.

Influenced by the war in the Balkans, the Firedrichshafen “Sound Ship” was built as a kind of ambassador for peace by the “European artist” Helmut Lutz.

The Graf-Zeppelin-Haus is the cultural and congress centre of the city of Friedrichshafen. It is one of the most important cultural sites in the Lake Constance region and is located directly on the lake. The upstream lake park is an ideal place to taste another glass of Lake Constance wine.

Built in the 17th century as a Benedictine priory, Friedrichshafen Palace is now privately owned by the House of Württemberg, which once ruled the Württemberg named after them as counts, dukes and kings. The castle garden with wine shop offers the opportunity to taste a good Württemberg Lake Constance wine.

The Protestant castle church from the 17th century is one of the famous Upper Swabian buildings of the Baroque period. Its 55 m high twin towers are one of the landmarks of the city of Friedrichshafen. Despite the partial destruction by a World War II bomb, numerous works of art by renowned Baroque artists can still be admired in the interior.

The cast-iron bridge from the 19th century leads into the lake as a wide walkway. At that time, it was only used to present and greet incoming ships and is now one of the landmarks of Friedrichshafen.
