    The hike was incredible, and Aki was a perfect guide. We traversed a portion of the old Tokaido “road” through the mountainous portions of Hakone, ending at Lake Ashi. It was a perfect mix of history and “bathing” in nature all in one. There are some steep portions of the hike but certainly doable for the average hiker. Definitely try the amasake at the tea house along the way! Highly recommend this tour!

    Aki was the nicest person we have met on our trip yet! The views were amazing of Lake Ashi and the whole trail! Loved the water falls on the way to the lake. The tea house/ museum was nice pit stop.

    My wife and I booked this tour because we wanted to do forest bathing! This was nothing short of it. This hike was so unique and different- it was so picturesque not too hard. Aki our tour guide was amazing so friendly and knowledgeable. His English is great! He really painted an amazing picture for us about the road we were hiking on and its significance to Japan! I would highly recommend this tour and would actually use him again!!

    With Aki as guide, my daughter and I enjoyed hiking this beautiful trail. Aki did a wonderful job giving us historical context of this trail, stopping at a village for some barley tea and traditional rice dessert for a quick rest and snack. We also stopped at a woodworking village and had a chance to purchase some beautiful gifts. Aki's knowledge of the trail and its historical importance as well as his ability to adjust the pace of the hike to our comfort makes this a memorable part of our Japan trip.

    Totally loved this hike. We started the Hakone part of the Old Tokaido Way around 9+ in the morning. The hike takes us through some gorgeous springtime growth among cedars and cypress forest - with brilliant sakura adding flashes of pink. The "Stone Tatami" paving from the Edo period and the incline of thr slope means you'll get a nice leg workout. The reward of that first 35 mins or so hike is the unbeatable scenery all the way to the Hatajuku woodworking village. Then a short, exhilarating bus ride to the delightful Amazake Chaya. A teahouse serving Amazake - warm, malty sweet rice beverage and delicious mochi to restore your expended energy. From Amazake Chaya you'll hike all the way to Lake Ashi -- where weather permitting, you'll see Mt. Fuji. Our guide Akhihiro-san is super knowledgeable about the history and gives wonderful insights about the various features that we see along the way. Ask him about the Edo period express messenger service!

    After hiking about an hour, you will reach this wood craving village where you will get to understand the traditional art of Hakone. After this village, you will take a bus to skip the steepest part of the trail to reach the teahouse.
