I began planning our trip to Japan one year in advance, and had specific ideas about what attractions were most important to visit based on individual preferences. Though I reached out to more than five different touring companies, only All Star Osaka Walk was willing to accommodate our ‘dream list’ within the itinerary allowed time. Not only were we able to chose the schedule, but also our most desired guide, Kaori, whom I’d read stellar reviews from previous travelers on similarly ambitious city days. As anticipated, Kaori-chan was responsive, thorough, responsible, ethical, efficient, and kind. What we couldn’t have predicted was how warm and caring she would be, attending to all of our needs (down to providing a hand drying cloth at temple restrooms and even sharing her favorite snacks and electrolyte drops during these very hot summer days in Japan). We knew we were truly in the best of care as she led us through the beauty and majesty of Kyoto and Osaka.
Each night at dinner, our son revived the many lessons Kaori-chan had filled our days with, from history and social, spiritual, cultural foundations and the meaningfulness of traditions and rituals in Japan. She was always gentle and encouraging with her teaching, providing insight in an engaging manner that everyone could grasp and find personally relevant. Not only did we see so much in two days, but we expanded our hearts and minds by choosing to share our limited time on this trip with Ms. Kaori. I’d most strongly encourage you to consider the same. There could not have been a better way to travel through the dense beauty of Kyoto and Osaka for our family. With gratitude, we will always remember these dream filled days.

Last year had an Osaka private tour with Kaori and enjoyed very much. This year Kyoto trip, we requested Kaori to be our tour guide again.
She prioritised places we interested to visit most, briefing us the history of each site we visited. At the end of the tour, she would suggest the places that we can visit on our own. Very helpful. Too bad we have not enough time to spend one more day with her.

We booked a 2 day tour of Kyoto because our cruise ship was docked for the night.
Our guide for the first day was Keiko who was so sweet and lovely. Her English was excellent and she met us at the port and took us on the subway and Shinkansen to Kyoto.
We had the most wonderful tea ceremony in Kyoto and saw Kiyomizu temple. We had a stroll around the Gion geisha district where we tried some traditional snacks before Keiko escorted us all the way back to the ship. A wonderful day!
Our guide for day 2 was Minako, who suggested we meet earlier than planned to make the most of the cherry blossoms in full bloom. And they were beautiful!
Minako again met us at the port and we took the Shinkansen to Kyoto. Just like Keiko on our first day, Minako was so kind and thoughtful and spoke fantastic English. She helped my brother to learn some more Japanese and would be an excellent teacher! We enjoyed seeing Kinkakuji temple and the Arashiyama bamboo forest. Minako even took me to a shrine for salon owners! Wonderful! She arranged a superb lunch at a pasta restaurant for us and it was the best pasta I’ve ever had - and I’ve been to Rome!!!
Minako even helped me track down a Pandora store in Kyoto so I could buy my Japanese charm! Wouldn’t have found it without her!
She arranged for us to get back to the port in time.
I would 100% recommend this tour and when we come back to Japan in a few years we will be looking up Minako and Keiko to book a tour to Nara and Osaka!

Fabulous tour with Minako who met us at the gate of the cruise port. She spoke wonderful English. She escorted us via the subway to the bullet train, as requested, for a quick ride to Kyoto. We were met by a private driver with spacious SUV. We visited the Fushimi shrine, the Gion district, the Nishi market, the Golden temple and lastly the bamboo grove. We enjoyed a relaxing drive back to the port. All entry fees were included. Minako even taught us to count to 10 in Japanese! She was truly a joy and very knowledgeable. It couldn’t have been better!!!! Thank you Minako!
