Overall, this was one of the highlights of my trip to Guatemala. It was fun, adventurous, and I learned a lot.
I would strongly encourage you already have a decent amount of motorcycle driving experience. You will be riding a motorcycle with a clutch, and there is not much of training. You just hop on the bike and follow the guide.
When you hit the roads, there is not much to say, but so much to see. You will be riding through little towns around Lake Atitlan, the beaches, the tops of mountains and more. You will also get to stop by in areas to explore all with your guide.
The guides there are super helpful and friendly, they played a big part on why this was a great trip. They knew a lot and could answer all my questions, and would take great pictures to remember this trip.

The motorcycle tour was the actual most fun thing I’ve ever done in my life. Genecarlo was the absolute best guide. His passion for motorcycles and Guatemala were so obvious. He single-handedly convinced me to come back to Lake Atitlan and do this tour again!

Our moto tour around the lake was amazing. They set us up with bikes that fit my wife and daughters shorter legs and me with a bigger more powerful bike. They supplied helmets and gloves as well. The bikes were in perfect order. Our guide Nehemias was a true local Mayan gem. He is born and raised here at Lake Atitlan. He took us to his home town of Santa Catarina Polopo where we got a taste of the history of the area and personal family stories. The many intricacies of the local Mayan culture were explained in detail. There, we visited a coffee shop that was an extension of a small families home coffee farm. Next we visited San Antonio Polopo and a shop that demonstrated making chocolate. We also visited a shop that demonstrated how the traditional Mayan fabrics are made from scratch. We then visited a ceramics shop where local artisanal ceramics are made start to finish from locally harvested clay. We then left for an extended ride through the countryside up a very fun steep hill climbing out of the lake caldera and continued to Santiago Atitlan where we eat a wonderful lunch at a beautiful restaurant in an enchanting garden on the lake. Afterwards we rode all the way back to Panajachel. Nehemias was very careful about making sure our group stayed together and was safe from traffic or road hazards. The entire trip was an overall delight. The highlight of our visit to Guatemala.

This is the best half day tour you can do in Lake Atitlan. This tour on motorcycles will start in Pana going all the way around to the opposite side of the lake to Santiago, Atitlan. On your way towards Santiago, we pass various towns for individual stops and lookouts overseeing the lake so we can enjoy amazing views from different points around Lake Atitlan. Some of the Stops included a Chocolate Factory, Ceramic Factory, Cultural Center, the popular lookout of El Cerro de Oro, the beach en San Lucas Toliman and a nice place to grab lunch near the water in Santiago. You will travel through paved roads, dirt roads, and other “Guatemalan roads” along the way.
